Natural Light - The Benefits
An increased volume of natural light inside buildings provides clear benefits:
- Greater exposure to natural light results in people experiencing higher levels of melatonin and cortisol.
- In addition to the widely recognised greater sense of well-being these enhanced hormone levels also produce other demonstrable benefits.
- Higher levels of knowledge retention and therefore improved learning ability.
- An increased ability to concentrate over longer periods results in greater productivity.
- Limitless systems also offer improved space utilisation through the provision of natural light to under-lit areas.
- All Limitless natural light systems offer energy saving when compared with conventional electric lighting.
- Installation of Limitless natural light solutions will enhance property values.
- Natural light it's good for you – and doesn’t cost the earth.
Natural daylight
At a time when artificial lighting is effectively neutralising the normal day-night rhythm the provision of natural daylight has become increasingly important. We can spend up to 22 hours per day inside our buildings and many jobs are carried out in wholly artificially lit environments. In recent years the awareness of the importance of natural light has increased in leaps and bounds.
Daylight in Architecture
In light of the above, architecture is therefore of particular importance. The design of buildings, their facades and their orientation have become key factors in optimizing daylight entry. In particular the illumination of lower floors and under-lit spaces continually produces challenges.
